Board Members

Tere (712) 240-3931 - Tere is a fifth generation Story County resident. She graduated from
Bishop Clarkson school of nursing in 1973, and served in the Navy Nurse Corps. She Retired from the Naval Reserves in 2001.  Tere graduated from ISU and the Univ.of Iowa with degrees in social work.  She has practiced as a licensed therapist for 30 years.  Tere grew up Presbyterian and is a lay pastor in that denomination.  She has been on the Board of the BFH for 12 years.

Rita (515)296-2929 - Rita was born September 1935 in Baker, OR. She was one of three children and accepted Christ in third grade. She later married Duane, they and their four children lived in Iran for a year, where Rita taught school. Returning to Seattle, Rita was a realtor. Today, they have seven grandchildren who all know the Lord. Rita joined the Auxiliary of the Gideons International in 1984 in Ames. She has held numerous offices at the local and state levels. In 1986, Rita was the manager for the Commissary of the US Embassy in Lusaka Zambia. After returning to Ames, she served as a deaconate of Christ Community Church in Ames. She has always been a homemaker and enjoyed Bible Studies with friends. 

 

 

Carol (515-460-2138)

Carol became involved with the Butterfly Freedom House in 2020 as a volunteer. She is now on the Board, serving as Treasurer and over sees the House maintenance. Carol grew up in Marshalltown, Iowa and has lived in Ames for the last 15 years. Carol went to college at Marshalltown Community College receiving an Associates degree in nursing. She worked as an RN for thirty years at the Veterans Home, Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center and at Mary Greeley. She worked at Mary Greeley as a pediatric nurse and retired after working as a First Nurse. She has been on the Board since 2021.

Miriam (515) 450-2149

Miriam is a wife, mom, grandma and great grandma and joined the Board in 2023. She graduated from high school at in Blairsburg, Iowa and attended one year of Bible college before getting married. Her father was a pastor. Miriam and her husband farmed near Jewell and moved to Ames ten years ago when their son came home to farm. She and her husband attend the Christ Community Church in Ames. She enjoys the teaching, small groups and social activities there. Their large family keeps them busy enjoying sports, concerts, birthdays etc. traveling during the winter months to sunny locations is something they have always loved to do. Miriam states that God has blessed her with good health for which she is so thankful.

Jeri (515)-204-6091 Jeri grew in Waukee, Iowa, graduating from high school there. She took three years of schooling at St. John’s Community College in St. Augustine, Florida. She is a licensed practical nurse and worked at Kindred Hospital in Green Cove Springs Florida in the sub-acute ventilator unit. She has worked in nursing homes in Iowa and several other hospitals in Florida. Jeri is a mother of three, she has five grandchildren and lives in Nevada, Iowa with her daughter. She has been on the Board since 2022.
